Each patient will have their conditions evaluated by our practitioner and treated with an individualized treatment plan. We start by getting to know your condition as well as your entire body’s constitution, then a treatment plan will be composed and executed. We usually start by regulating your energy network with Acupuncture, then we use Tui Na (Eastern style medical massage) to further regulate energy flow of the affected areas, as well as loosening related muscle groups.
Dr. Mark (Longyu) Ma L. Ac. is a New York State licensed Acupuncturist with over 10 years of experience. As a third generation practitioner, he grew up observing his grandfather and father treating patients with various conditions, and developed a passion for the healing power of Traditional Chinese Medicine at a young age. He graduated from NYCTCM and started practicing Acupuncture in 2012. Through his extensive work of Acupuncture and Tui Na (Eastern style medical massage therapy), he has developed his unique techniques for pain management as well as mental related disorders.

Acupuncture is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which was developed in China more than 4,000 years ago. (Yes, you read that right, we have written records of it dating back to more than four THOUSAND years!) At its core, acupuncture is an energy practice. In the theories of TCM, we all have a form of energy that is called “Qi” or “Chi” that circulates in our body. The term translates into English as “air” or “life force”. The Qi circulates in your body through an intensive network, and the network of energy pathways are called “meridians” collectively. Imagine the electric grid in your house, there’s electricity running through the grid, powering everything, but you can’t see it. Your Qi circulates in your meridians in a similar fashion. Whenever there is any issue with the body, it is usually caused by an imbalanced energy flow. In certain situations, there might be a deficiency, which is a lack of Qi in certain meridians or organ systems, or an excessive condition can happen as well. Other times, the flow of Qi can get disrupted. There might be blockages at areas of the body. This is usually caused by injuries or overuse, aka wear and tear. The blockage is what is causing you pain. There are certain points alongside your energy network that has the property to release your
blockage, regulate your energy, thus helping you with the pain or discomfort.
We work with most major commercial insurances and your cost could be little to none if you have the coverage. If you would like to use your insurance benefit, please contact us at least 1 business day in advance so we can have your insurance coverage verified.
For your very first appointment, one of our Acupuncturists will conduct an initial evaluation, which is currently free. After the evaluation, we would understand more about your conditions.Â
The practitioner will compose a treatment plan in his or her head, then implement the treatment plan.
The instrument we use to stimulate the points are hair-thin, sterile and disposable stainless steel needles. We will usually insert these tiny needles into certain points on or near the location of your pain, but not always. We might use some points on your hands and feet or other parts far away from your body area with the discomfort, but the points we use are beneficial towards your condition. Imagine if you want to turn off the light, you don’t climb to the ceiling, you flip the switch. Similar concept, we may use distal points to treat issues with your neck or back.
After the needles go in, we usually retain the needles for a short period of time, depending on what you need for your condition. You may also get multiple sessions of acupuncture with different positions. After the needles come out, our practitioner will provide you with manual manipulation, or acupressure to loosen up the area muscles for you, or provide additional simulation on some important points.
Our treatment is a combination of targeting specific points and working on your area muscle for pain management.
You can choose to schedule your next appointment at this point if you wish, and you go on your merry way and continue your day!
If you do not have the insurance coverage, our self pay rate is $120 for each visit and the initial consultation is free of charge.
Feel free to call, text, email or come in in person!
